After the ceramic body is formed and undergoes the initial firing, the plate is coated with the desired color using metallic colorants and stains. Then, a pointed tool is used to carve the desired design onto the surface. In ceramics, this technique is called Sgraffito. Once the design is complete, a layer of transparent glaze is applied, and the piece is fired for a second time in a kiln at a temperature between 1050°C and 1100°C (1922°F – 2012°F).

Since this product is handmade, when placing an order, the lines and design may be approximately similar to the final piece, but not exactly the same. It is also available for custom orders in different colors.
